Mock Election


We ve already had a lot of coverage on the upcoming election Including young people s involvement And now Even elementary kids are weighing in on who should be president Fifth graders at Highland Acres elementary organized a mock election for three other classes in their school Students first had to check in with their voter ID s then vote for president governor representative insurance commissioner and measure one Those are the actual voting polls that will be used on election day They were donated by the city auditor Educators say the mock election is a good way to learn about government and open discussions both in and out of the classroom Shawn Oban 5th Grade Teacher I had several parents already ask who are people voting for what issues are you voting for we want to talk about it at home parents and kids sometimes get stuck on Soccer practice time what chores you have when get home and this way they can have conversation at home that is about something bigger Results for the mock election will be revealed on the real election day
