Century Soccer
Eight teams will try for the State Soccer Title in Fargo this week but only one team will try to repeat The Century Patriots are the defending champions The Pats finished second in the WDA and second at the West Region but the hope is to finish first when it matters most They ve done well in competition against teams from both sides of the state going 12-3-3 overall Joel Jahnke I think we are playing our best soccer of the year and we are peaking up to today and specific players in certain positions are starting to feel comfortable and you can tell in the attack that our scoring opportunities are increasing our defending is improving and we are giving up less goals so I think overall we are getting to ghe peak mode Michael Frenzel It feels pretty good - it is all that we have been focused on is getting to State and trying to get a good seed and we are ready to go play State and we are excited The State Tournament has a pool play format and for the Pats it begins with Fargo North on Thursday and both Fargo South and Jamestown on Friday For the West s top rated team St Mary s they ll face Grand Forks Central on Thursday and both Fargo Shanley and Bismarck High on Friday Speaking of the Demons they have the three seed in the West and they ll begin the tournament with Fargo Shanley tomorrow and both Grand Forks Central and St Mary s on Friday Finally the extreme underdogs of Jamestown have the West s fourth seed and they ll begin tomorrow with Fargo South and then face Fargo Shanley and Century on Friday The State Championship game is then set for Saturday at 3 00 p m central
