Losing a little weight is a goal for most all of us But why Maybe you want to look more fit or just feel better Perry Olson introduces us to one man today who made a decision to improve his health and he can see the benefits Looking for Richard Rhoads This is always a good place to start here at Anytime Fitness ns of treadmill He s been a member here for over two years and he s seen a pleseant change in his body dropping 21 pounds but Richard Rhoads - Minot I ve come to find out it isn t all about losing weight And Richard is a great example of what is really important not the weight but overall health which he was struggling with He had been taking medicine to battle high blood pressure and was also on a dieuretic But that changed recently on a visit to the doctor Richard Rhoads - Minot He asked me how did I lower my blood pressure It is the cardio I come down here six seven times a week Both meds were suspended thanks in large part to his improved exercise regimen Richard Rhoads - Minot To me it is like I am walking on air I did not plan on this happening I was under the impression that once you were on blood pressure meds you are on them for life Or so it seemed with my way of thinking ns Richard Rhoads - Minot I am still losing but this is the first time in my life I have lost it the right way I have done it all in the past Yo-yo diets I have tried it all I could get weight off but it would come back I was never doing it the right way Now he has and he hopes there will be a pay off for this hard work the chance to be here for some monumental moments in the lives of those he loves Richard Rhoads - Minot I want to take care of myself so I can see my grandkids graduate Before that though he s enjoying his time with them now Richard Rhoads - Minot Well lets put it this way I can wrestle with the kids and play soccer There is nothing worse for me than to sit there and watch the kids play and not be able to do it My total focus has changed And with his work ethic it will just keep getting better In Minot Perry Olson KX News There has been another benefit for Richard since starting to exercise He battles depression and he says that too has improved since he started working out
