Fischer Resigns

He s been a part of the Soccer community for decades winning state titles and nearly 170 games as a coach but at the end of this current season Mel Fischer will step down as head coach of both the girls and boys programs at Bismarck High Fischer has coached in the Bismarck Public School systems for the last 21 years and guided the varsity boys for five years and is in his tenth year with the varsity girls We caught up with Fischer earlier this afternoon Mel Fischer It is a decision that I have been thinking about for just about a year and we have some family obligations that we certainly don t want to miss and are going to pull us away from the soccer season both the boys and girls so it is an appropriate time for me to step back A lot of real good positive memories and definetly the state titles but I think the biggest is the opportunity to work with young people Fischer lead the girls to state titles in 2000 and 2005 and the boys to a runner-up finish this past fall The B-H-S girls will wrap up the regular season tonight in Minot
