Committee Considers Community Bowl

The city of Minot has plenty of convention space but could use a multi-sport stadium and a secondary Basketball arena located at Minot State University Those were the findings of a facilities study presented to a committee made up of all city council members today An official with a consulting firm which did the study said it appears the city could benefit from a Football Soccer and track facility on the MSU campus and from remodeling Swain Hall at MSU to become a second floor to help the city be a host for state high school basketball events If Minot State University is already getting part of the way there with their rennovation of Swain Hall and it wouldn t cost much more to get those seats in there that seems to make sense From the community stadium standpoint if you ve got the high school and the university contemplating improvements and renovations to their facilities today can we find a joint solution The committee voted to send the report on to the full city council The consultant estimated the cost of the stadium at between eight-and-a-half and 13 million dollars
