THE METRO AREA GOT A GOOD DOSE OF STRONG WINDS THIS AFTERNOON THE GUSTS WERE STRONG ENOUGH TO DAMAGE SEVERAL POWER LINES CUTTING SERVICE TO HUNDREDS OF ALBUQUERQUE CUSTOMERS OUR WEATHER TEAM COVERAGE CONTINUES WITH JEFF MAHER WHO S LIVE DOWNTOWN JEFF THE WINDS HAVE DIED DOWN FOR NOW IN THIS AREA - - BUT EARLIER THEY WERE A FORCE TO BE RECKONED WITH ON CENTRAL NEAR 64TH - - SOME PEOPLE HAD TO BREAK OUT THEIR WINTER JACKETS AND WALK BACKWARDS DOWN THE STREET BECAUSE THE WINDS WERE SO STRONG BUSES AND CARS GOING UP CENTRAL HAD TO DODGE FLYING DEBRIS OTHERS BRAVED THE HARSH WINDS AND CONTINUED FISHING AT TINGLEY BEACH AND ON THE OTHER SIDE OF TOWN NEAR COMANCHE AND MOON - THE WINDS TOOK DOWN A POWER LINE NOT FAR FROM WHERE A SOCCER TEAM WAS PRACTICING THE BROKEN LINE WAS SO HOT IT DUG A HOLE INTO THE GROUND AND TURNED SOME OF THE DIRT INTO GLASS P-N-M SAYS ALL BUT ABOUT 20 PEOPLE HAVE THEIR POWER BACK ON IN THAT AREA THE STRONG WINDS ALSO HAD A REACH THAT WENT FAR BEYOND ALBUQUERQUE THIS IS WHAT RIO RANCHO LOOKED LIKE DURING THE STORM S PEAK WE RE ALSO TOLD THAT SOME POWER LINES WERE SNAPPED IN LOS LUNAS - - LEAVING MORE PEOPLE WITHOUT POWER CREWS ARE WORKING TO GET ELECTRICITY THERE BACK UP AND RUNNING AND P-N-M SAYS 16-HUNDRED CUSTOMERS WHO LOST POWER IN A NORTH VALLEY OUTAGE HAVE THEIR SERVICE RESTORED TONIGHT LIVE DOWNTOWN JEFF MAHER EYEWITNESS NEWS
